About Katie Dalebout

Hi, I’m Katie. Welcome to my pocket of the internet.

I’m not an expert in anything, rather I am an enthusiast of a bunch of things.

Simply put I love sharing people, places, things, and ideas that inspire me.  Starting in 2011 my blog and podcast became the outlet I’d curate the content that inspired me. Through my podcast, videos and writing I share what I love in hopes to a build community, elevate the topics I’m passionate about, and encourage people discover what they’re enthusiastic about too.

To figure out what I was an enthusiast of, I had to get to know myself a bit better. Eventually, I started journaling. Simply writing out my unfiltered authentic thoughts and feelings heightened self-awareness and therefore helped me become more myself.  In 2016 I published my first book Let It Out: A Journey Through Journaling with Hay House. With 55 journaling exercises divided into seven sections covering everything from clearing clutter to finding presence to cultivating abundance to moving beyond fear, my hope is that this book can be your on-the-go friend anytime you seek clarity or crave solace.

If you want to know more about my life in [way too much] detail there’s a timeline below.

oh and I’ve had the awesome fortune to have my work featured in a bunch of places, including:

Deemed “Chatty Kathy” by my kindergarten teacher, then subsequently by every teacher after that.

MEMORIZED EVERY LINE OF RENT

Realize I’m an auditory learner when: I can recite every line of my favorite musical by the age of 7 after listening to the show’s cassette tapes twice.

Speaking Career Started

Each 4th grade student is given a state to give a verbal report on. I got Wisconsin, wore a cheese head hat my mom ordered on the internet, got a rush of excitement (best speech I’ve given to date), & the rest was history.

SPEAKING CAREER CONTINUED

Addressed my middle school, got another jolt of excitement and became addicted to public speaking.

June 2006

Yoga Addiction began

Convinced my mom to let me take yoga class as a 4th hour elective blow-off. Turns out to be the most productive class I take in high school.

September 2007

Utilized the law of attraction

College placement exam prep tutor gives me a copy of The Secret to watch the night before the test. I watch it, I believe it, I witness it work from that point forward.

MANIFEST FIRST DREAM JOB: PROFESSIONAL BLOG READER

I get my dream part time job: a desk job where I got paid to wake up super early unlock doors like a janitor, then sit for hours exploring the internet & occasionally answer questions. There it hits me: blogs are the greatest thing on earth and I want one.

May 2011

My FIRST CLEANSE FIASCO

My longtime internalized Body-Hate spiked; decided the answer was weight-loss by route of detox. Didn’t take enough Master Cleanse concoction to my 3 hour college art class, passed out and ended up sick, eating a peanut butter sandwich made by my roommate (to date the best thing I’ve ever eaten).

June 2011

FAILED CLEANSE TURNS TO “HEALTH” OBSESSION

I mask my desire to manipulate my body to fit into society’s beauty standard as ‘health’ obsession. Start juicing with my roommate’s juicer & decide to eat a 100 percent raw food diet, and turn my vegetarianism to strict gluten-free veganism.

THE WELLNESS WONDERLAND LAUNCHED

April 2012

HEALTH ADDICTION TURNED SOUTH

Completely isolated myself and lost way too much weight. Realize my addiction to health has a name: orthorexia. Things get real when I am diagnosed with a full-blown eating disorder.

May 2012

AWARENESS IS ENOUGH TO CHANGE

I admit attempts for ‘health’ were merely a cover for extreme dieting. I get help. I am guided to coaches, mentors, books, and therapists who help me see I was controlling my body because I felt I couldn’t control my life.

July 2012

FIND MY GREATEST GURU

Realize my journal is my greatest tool for sorting through all of the negative thoughts that had been clouding my mind for years. I start writing every day, and it makes me feel better.

August 2012

PUBLIC SPEAKING ADDICTION RETURNS

Yoga teacher certification complete. Begin teaching anyone who will listen.

OTHER PEOPLE LIKE THE PODCAST TOO

Girls who read the blog and listen to my podcast began asking if I’d coach them on creating their own Wellness Wonderland. I asked myself the same question and then realized the answer is YES. They have my same struggles of body image, emotional eating, dieting addiction, etc. so I begin sharing my journaling practices that healed my eating disorder and transformed my life.

January 2014

MENTEES INSPIRE MENTOR

I mentor countless girls to make their lives really awesome through journaling. I encourage them to focus less on their bodies & more on their lives as a whole, then they inspire me to do the same.
