I met this week’s guest fashion historian Laura McLaws Helms at a brunch hosted by The Fullest magazine last fall. She was striking and chic in her vintage dress and although we didn’t get to talk much I started following her on instagram where she curates the most iconic vintage images. Beyond her stunning style and instagram feed, I learned she’s an accomplished researcher, historian, podcaster, and creative branding consultant. She co-founded the magazine Lady and curated an exhibit on the iconic designer Thea Porter. In this week’s episode we tell her full story of how she moved to New York from London to study photography and how she ended up in the career she’s in now. We talk about fashion trends, vintage shopping and personal style tips. We got into becoming a personal brand, podcasting vs. writing, authenticity in the age of social media, body image, and much more.
