In this episode I have a great conversation with someone doing incredible work in the world. Corinne, the co-founder of Shaktibarre, has created a true wellness wonderland in Brooklyn, New York. I discovered her space and what she is doing when I started researching neighborhoods to potentially live in New York. Shaktibarre came into existence when Corinne realized how inaccessible yoga and wellness was to certain people. Her passion to bring yoga and wellness education to anyone that wants access to it (regardless of income) inspired her to create a studio/cafe/workspace/wellness classroom. It features sliding scale prices, a café with an Ayurvedic menu, and programs for local public school youth, and of course yoga-barre classes with a focus on inclusivity and acceptance. We talk a bit about how it all came together, the importance of community, being a socially conscious entrepreneur, tips for dealing with bad body image days, feeling like you’re “too much” or like you’re not good enough and much more. I’m so excited to share this conversation and hopefully eventually host a live podcast in her space once I move. She is a huge inspiration and maybe this episode will lead to your own spark of creativity.
